Conference on innovative "Digital Twin" technology held in Baku
A conference on innovative "Digital Twin" technology was held at “Fairmont” hotel in Baku on June 29. The conference was organized by the “AZEL Systems” company. World's leading provider of engineering software for design and operation of plants, ships and offshore facilities and for digital twin technologies “Hexagon” company (USA-Sweden holding) was the partner of the conference.
Opening the event General Director of “AZEL Systems” company Igor Yakovenko informed the participants that the company was established in 2013 and since then has become one of the leading systems integrators in the area of digitalization and implementation of innovative solutions in the Caucasus region. He also noted that for the past 9 years “AZEL Systems” has been the only partner of "Hexagon" in Azerbaijan and that together companies have successfully completed several projects in Azerbaijan. Yakovenko also briefly focused on the benefits of the Digital Twin technology including cost optimization; risk reduction and improved data quality. In the end of his speech he stressed the importance of using only licensed software products.
Speaking next, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan Tamerlan Taghiyev highlighted the importance of digitalization. He also spoke about the success Azerbaijan has already had in this area and the future projects regarding digitalization.
Next the Regional Manager of “Hexagon” Shamil Fayzrahmanov made a presentation on the topic “Benefits of Digital Transformation”. In his presentation he explained the Hexagon view on digital twins and how they are the key to digital transformation initiatives and provide support for projects and for operations of industry facilities. Fayzrahmanov noted that Azerbaijan also has a very good base for beginning the process of digital twin technologies implementation. In particular, the successful use of “Hexagon” technology by a number of Azerbaijani companies was discussed.
The representatives from different departments of "Hexagon'' technical specialists Stanislav Chaika and Linas Gabrielaitis also addressed the conference. They discussed the benefits of the Hexagon Digital Twin technology; solutions for supporting the entire lifecycle of industrial operation facilities and Hexagon software for industrial engineering and BIM.
Their presentations were well received and representatives from organizations such as the Ministry of Economy, SOCAR, Committee on City Building and Architecture, Baku Metro, Agency for Development of Economic Zones, Ministry of Emergency Situations, “Azfen” and others expressed hope that similar events can be held every year.
At the end of the conference a panel discussion was held with the participation of Igor Yakovenko, Shamil Fayzrahmanov and others. They discussed the wide range of questions and agreed that implementation of innovative solutions such as "Digital Twins" is an important goal for Azerbaijan and that this process should be done only with the use of licensed software.
